Why Great Danes?
Because they fill a room without making noise. Because their presence is design. Because calm can be enormous. And sometimes, because the joke is simply too good to resist.
Say Hello to My Little Friend was originally created with Dino in mind. He was the giant behind the image — the reason this particular combination of size, attitude and understatement existed in the first place. The title says “little friend”.
Dino, naturally, had other ideas about the meaning of the word little.
That is part of the fun of Great Danes. They can look imposing enough to stop a room, and yet somehow remain extraordinarily gentle, ridiculous and affectionate.
A Great Dane does not need to shout to make an entrance.
The original idea eventually became a design in its own right, and now it lives on in several versions.
