Great Danes
Great Danes are unusual dogs.
Large, impressive and often misunderstood, they can look strong while being deeply sensitive. Many of the Great Danes I have known were delicate souls in very large bodies: sweet, anxious, funny, serious and not made for noise, pressure or restlessness.
DoggenHaus began with real dogs. Foster dogs, rescue dogs, old photos, drawings and the need to stay close to the animals that were there.

Great Dane life
I do not see Great Danes as status dogs, guard dogs or decorative giants. They need calm people, space, attention and a life that respects their sensitivity.
That does not mean every Great Dane is the same. But the breed often asks more from people than people expect.
Art and memory
Many DoggenHaus images started with real dogs: a photo, a look, a pose, a memory. Some became drawings, patterns, cards, products or small visual experiments.
The old idea
The name DoggenHaus still carries an older thought: not only one house, but a different way of thinking about humans and dogs living together.
Not shelter. Not storage. A place where dogs and people are considered together.
